18. Do your sheets have a thread count?

No — and that's not a shortcut. Thread count measures threads crossing in a grid, which only exists in woven fabrics like percale and sateen. Our sheets are jersey knit: one continuous cotton yarn looped through itself, the same way a t-shirt is made. There's no grid to count. Knits are graded by fabric weight instead. It's why jersey feels soft immediately rather than needing a dozen washes to break in, and why it stretches to fit a mattress the way a woven sheet can't.
